Friday marked the grand opening of Chizuko, Pensacola’s newest restaurant, bar and music venue. This welcomed addition is located at 506 W. Belmont St. on the historic corner of Belmont and DeVilliers.
The word “chizuko” is a Japanese name that means “a bountiful woman.”
The new concept fills the void of the recently closed vegetarian restaurant, Sluggo’s, which has been a vital part of the town’s art and music scene for over three decades. However, Chizuko is not Sluggo’s part 2 (there is another Sluggo’s in Chattanooga, Tennessee, – same menu and owners – for anyone experiencing major withdrawals), but rather a labor of love from new owners Daisy Doyle and Jess Laws.
